The growing concentration of the population in urban areas presents great challenges for sustainability. Within this process, mobility emerges as one of the main generators of externalities that hinder the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals. The transition of cities towards innovations in sustainable mobility requires progress in different dimensions, whose interaction requires research. Likewise, it is necessary to establish whether the experiences developed between cities with different contexts can be extrapolated. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to identify how the conditions that determine a city’s readiness to implement urban mobility innovations could be combined. For this, qualitative comparative analysis was applied to a model developed using the multi-level perspective, analyzing 60 cities from different geographical areas and with a different gross domestic product per capita. The R package Set Methods was used. The explanation of the readiness of cities to implement mobility innovations is different to the explanation of the readiness negation. While readiness is explained by two solutions, in which only regime elements appear, the negation of readiness is explained by five possible solutions, showing the interaction between the landscape and regimen elements and enacting the negation of innovations as a necessary condition. The cluster analysis shows us that the results can be extrapolated between cities with different contexts.

Color, material, and finish (CMF) are essential to the competitiveness of industrial products. However, in the existing research on CMF from the consumer behavior perspective, there is an insufficient focus on finish, compared with that on color and material. Research on finish is limited to technical methods, and there is a lack of discussion about its impact on consumer purchasing behavior. This study examines the effect of cars' exterior design finish on purchase intention in Japan. The research question is, "does changing the quality of the finish by removing cut lines have a positive effect on purchase intention?" Two sets of images were used: normal images of car exteriors and images of car exteriors improved by removing cut lines. An online survey was conducted to explore the impact of a car's finish on consumers' purchase intentions in the Japanese market. The randomized controlled trial results showed that finish had a significant positive effect on purchase intention. This study analyzes the interaction of finish with consumer characteristics. A multiple regression model with interactions revealed that, among consumers who emphasize design, a higher finish quality prompted a greater positive influence on purchase intention. In design research, styling tends to attract significant attention. However, practitioners should not neglect efforts to improve finishing when manufacturing products. Companies that consider it impossible to convey to consumers the quality of products with delicate finishing need to change their mindset. These suggestions apply not only to the automotive industry but also to other durable consumer goods industries.

This paper investigates conditional configurations for improving high‐tech enterprises' new product development (NPD) performance under complex environment of digital era in China. The results indicate that digital transformation is neither sufficient nor necessary for high NPD performance but a significant component of those configurations for high NPD performance. Through the fuzzy‐set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) approach, four configurations for high NPD performance and four configurations for non‐high NPD performance are generated from complex nonlinear interactions among five antecedent conditions of NPD performance. Our findings enrich the literature on NPD performance and provide references on enterprises' decision making on digital transformation.
