In Belostoma , it has been proposed that the ancestral chromosome number of 2n = 26 + XY/XX (male/female) changed during speciation by fragmentation of the X chromosome, resulting in a multiple sex chromosome system and the male karyotype of 2n = 26 + X 1 X 2 Y while preserving the ancestral pair of NOR–autosomes.…”
