Abstract: Introduction The most prevalent chronic human autoimmune disorder worldwide is rheumatoid arthritis. Synovial samples from acute-phase patients are polymerase chain reaction-positive for Chlamydia pneumoniae ( C. pneumoniae ) DNA and express chlamydial hsp60 .
