The reliability of general vague fault-tree analysis on weapon systems fault diagnosis

Abstract: An algorithm of vague fault-tree analysis is proposed in this paper to calculate fault interval of system components from integrating expert's knowledge and experience in terms of providing the possibility of failure of bottom events. We also modify Tanaka et al's definition and extend the new usage on vague fault-tree analysis in terms of finding most important basic system component for managerial decision-making. In numerical verification, the fault of automatic gun is presented as a numerical example. For … Show more

“…Fault tree analysis (FTA) (Lee et al 1985; Antonio and Nelson 1999;Vaurio 2003;Huang et al 2004) is a logical and diagrammatic method for evaluating the probability of an accident resulting from a sequence and a combination of faults and failure events, and it is widely used to evaluate the safety and reliability of complex systems (Chang et al 2006;Cepin and Mavko 2002;Alireza and Seyed 2004;Sohn and Seong 2004;Jussi 2002;Luis et al 2004;Jenab and Dhillon 2005;Henley and Kumamoto 1981). It has also been applied to software systems (Leveson 1995).…”

“…They applied their method for the failure analysis problem of printed circuit board assembly (PCBA). A more or less similar approach has been considered by Chang et al (2006) to develop vague fault-tree decision support systems (VFTDSS) to generate fault-tree and fault-tree nodes, and to compute the vague fault-tree interval, traditional reliability and vague reliability interval.…”

“…Fault tree analysis (FTA) is a logical and diagrammatic approach to represent the sequences and combinations of possible events occurring in a system that lead to the top undesired event [23]. This model is widely used to evaluate the reliability of a complex system in various fields, such as pipelines, aerospace and petrochemical industry [24].…”
