Abstract: There is a significant correlation between fatigue in MS patients and disrupted sleep or abnormal sleep cycles.

“…Middle insomnia was moderately correlated with the presence of fatigue and this relationship remained after global disability had been controlled for. This is consistent with previous findings [17], and indicates that sleep disturbance, particularly middle insomnia, may be an important cause of fatigue in patients with MS. As nocturia was overwhelmingly the most important cause of middle insomnia, it is possible that addressing this symptom may improve not only sleep, but also fatigue. Initial and terminal insomnia were not significantly associated with the presence of fatigue (although there was a trend towards a relationship with initial insomnia).…”
