Background: The quality of working life (QWL) is increasingly considered in organizations interested in job satisfaction (JS) and enhancing organizational effectiveness. Objective: The current study aimed at investigating the QWL and JS in the employees of health centers in Ahvaz, Iran. Methods: In the current descriptive-analytical study, 143 technical staff of health centers in East of Ahvaz were selected by the multistage random sampling method in 2015. Data were collected using 2 questionnaires. Data were analyzed through descriptive statistics, the Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple linear regression with SPSS version 21. Results: Overall, the Walton QWL questionnaire scored 72.95 and the JS survey scored 126.08 were in the moderate level in the current study. There was a significant relationship between QWL and JS (P = 0.00).Moreover, there was a significant relationship between JS and all components of QWL (P = 0.00). The highest and lowest correlation was related to social cohesion (0.539) and safe environment (0.212), respectively. Results of the regression analysis showed that the QWL explained 39.6% of the variance affecting the JS (R 2 = 0.396, P = 0.00). Bridging Intellectual Capital, Sustainable Development and Quality of Life in Higher Education Institutions

This paper analyses the relationship between the intellectual capital of higher education institutions (HEIs) and their sustainable development practices, and assesses whether higher education institutions’ sustainable development practices are related to their stakeholders’ quality of life. Using a structural equation model, two model specifications are estimated, gathering primary data from a convenience sample composed of 738 full-time students and 587 teachers/researchers at seven Portuguese higher education institutions. The findings reveal that intellectual capital influences sustainable development practices directly and positively, whereas sustainable development practices influence students’ quality of life in a significant way, although the same is not verified for teachers/researchers. These findings provide insightful implications for policy-making and intellectual capital management for practices in higher education institutions; firstly, by showing that the sustainable development concept is associated with HEIs’ practices of economic, environmental, social and organisational sustainability; secondly, by concluding that public Portuguese HEIs need to improve the social dimension of their sustainable development practices, and here there may be room for improvement in the institution through better and more proficient social engagement that is more directed to the challenges of sustainability and social change; and thirdly, by showing that the inclusion of better sustainable practices has repercussions on the quality of life of all stakeholders.

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh Quality of Work Life terhadap Motivasi Kerja dan Kepuasan Kerja Karyawan. Penelitian dilakukan di Swastika Bungalows Sanur, dengan sampel sebanyak 60 orang karyawan yang diambil dengan metode sampel jenuh atau sensus. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu teknik analisis jalur (path analysis). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi Quality of Work Life yang diterapkan maka semakin tinggi pula motivasi kerja karyawan yang berdampak pada peningkatkan kepuasan kerja karyawan dengan hasil analisis jalur yang menunjukan bahwa motivasi kerja berpengaruh positif dalam memediasi pengaruh Quality of Work Life terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan sehingga, dari hasil penelitian ini dapat menjadi referensi bagi perusahaan untuk meningkatkan kesejahteraan karyawan melalui peningkatan keamanan kerja, memberikan kebebasan kepada karyawan, dan peningkatan dalam pemberian insentif bagi karyawan yang dapat berdampak pada peningkatan produktivitas perusahaan. Kata kunci : quality of work life, motivasi kerja, kepuasan kerja ABSTRACT This study aims to determine the effect on the Quality of Work Life Work Motivation and Job Satisfaction. The study was conducted at the Swastika Bungalows Sanur, with a sample of 60 employees who were taken with saturated or census sampling method. Data analysis technique used is the technique of path analysis (path analysis). The results showed that the higher the Quality Of Work Life applied by the company, the higher employee motivation that impact on enhancing employee satisfaction with the results of path analysis showed that motivation positive effect in mediating the effect of Quality Of Work Life on employee job satisfaction so , the results of this study can serve as a reference for the company to improve the welfare of employees through increased job security, giving freedom to employees, and increased the incentive for employees to have an impact on increasing the productivity of the company.
