“…The following case differs from those previously published in that the son was an adult and not manifestly schizophrenic (Wahl, 1960). Up to now it has been difficult to establish a generalized pattern dealing with this form of incest and its pathological consequences because very few data, diagnoses, case histories, therapy reports and follow-up studies exist.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Especially, maternal incest was thought to be virtually non‐existent [38]. In the rare cases that were reported, it was underlined that the mother must have a severe mental illness [1,39]. An analysis of national data has shown that child sexual abuse perpetrators are four and a half times more likely to be female if the perpetrator is the biological parent of the victim and female offenders are far more likely to offend against their biological children than males [40].…”

“…The relatively few cases of maternal incest that have been reported in the medical and psychiatric literature have involved a mother and her adolescent or preadolescent son, 1 , 3 , 5 , 9 although there is one case report of an adolescent mother who, following a “nervous breakdown,” sexually abused her neonate 11 . Recent review articles on sexual abuse of children 7 , 10 make no mention of maternal-neonatal incest.…”
