Abstract: The potential for ablation during product freeze-drying has been assessed using a defined area surrounding the processed vial. This technique has enabled media formulations to be compared. The paper suggests ways in which the mini-chambers may be used to investigate the extent of ablation and methods for reducing contamination of' a jreeze-drier by ablation.
