Abstract: Summary It is well known that the four main districts, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin, together with Lower Hutt, employ a high proportion of the workers engaged in manufacturing activities. The use of unweighted percentages shows that Auckland has more than half the number of persons employed in these districts, and one‐third of all the workers.
