THE l-MIXING CROSS SECTION OF RYDBERG STATES OF ATOMIC Rb AND THE SCALING LAW

Abstract: On the basis of impulse approximate merhod, a kind of analytical wavefunctions based on a potential model was used to calculate the l mixing cross section of thermal collision of Ryd-berg states of atomic Rb with rare gas (He, Ne). The results were compared with the experimental results and other theoretical values. These results show that there exists a kind of scaling law for the l mixing cross section of Rydberg alkali atoms.

“…From the IA I-mixing cross sections c s k x in the intermediate-n region (n= [10][11][12][13][14][15] of the Na atom (see table 3), a kind of fit formula can be obtained, which has been discussed in our previous work (Liu et al 1991b), in which the parameters A and p can be determined by using the least-squares fit method, where /3=-2.752, -3.641 and -1,002, respectively, for the collision systems Na-He, Na-Ne, and Na-Ar.
