Abstract: N6-methyladenosine (m6A) is the most common epigenetic modification of eukaryotic RNA, which can participate in the growth and development of the body and a variety of physiological and disease processes by affecting the splicing, processing, localization, transport, translation, and degradation of RNA. Increasing evidence shows that non-coding RNAs, particularly microRNA, long non-coding RNA, and circular RNA, can also regulate the RNA m6A modification process by affecting the expression of m6A-related enzyme… Show more

“…A novel writer METTL16 acts against non-coding RNA [ 7 , 10 , 11 ]. Besides, the m 6 A RNA modification was uninstalled by demethylase (eraser), such as ALKBH5 and FTO [ 12 , 13 ]. In addition, the biological functions of m 6 A are mediated via reader protein by recognizing the m 6 A site, such as the YT521-B homology (YTH) family (YTHDFs).…”

“…Therefore, more accurate prognostic signatures of CC are urgently needed to improve patient survival. An increasing number of studies have shown that RNA methylation modifications (including m6A, m5C, m1A, and m7G) play an essential role in tumor progression and influence specific biological processes by interacting with lncRNAs ( Chen et al, 2021 ; Yao et al, 2021 ). Huang et al constructed an m5C-associated lncRNA prognostic signature that accurately predicted breast cancer patient’s prognosis and immune microenvironment characteristics ( Huang et al, 2021 ).…”

“…N 6 -methyladenosine (m 6 A) methylation is the most prevalent post-transcriptional RNA modification in the transcriptome. Previous studies have unveiled the critical importance of the interaction between m 6 A methylation and ncRNA in tumour proliferation, metastasis, drug resistance and immunity ( 170 ). Pan et al ( 171 ) revealed that methyltransferase-like 3 (METTL3)-dependent m 6 A methylation promotes the processing and maturation of miR-181b-5p by DiGeorge syndrome critical region 8, thus reducing the expression of neurocalcin δ and inhibiting the 5-FU sensitivity of colorectal cancer cells.…”
