The Influence of Small-Sided Football Games with Numerical Variability in External Training Load

Abstract: Small-sided games (SSGs) are a motivational strategy and effective training method to develop skills and physical fitness at optimal intensity. This study investigates the influence of variability in the number of players on the physiological response using SSGs. The sample was composed of 10 field players with an average age of 15.9 ± 0.50 years old. Three sessions were held on 3 different days to collect information. The 10 min SSG exercise with temporal numerical variability was repeated twice on each day. … Show more

“…PA volume and intensity can be measured via self‐reporting and device‐based instruments. For example, measurements of heart rate (Little & Williams, 2007) and the use of an accelerometer in football training are widely used (Sousa et al, 2022), but no empirical data for people with intellectual disabilities exist. This knowledge for Unified training is, however, important to understand the impact of such training on the behaviour of athletes and the underlying mechanisms (e.g., motivation) and to design optimal training sessions (e.g., selection of activities, intensity, minimum and maximum duration for specific exercises).…”

“…In recent years, the monitoring methods of athletes' physiological and biochemical tests have been widely used in sports teams. Still, with the rapid development of information technology, the traditional methods can not meet the actual needs of sports training of soccer players [5][6][7].…”

“…The long-term viability of monitoring and analyzing training loads is essential. Sustainable sports training prioritizes both the well-being of players and the survival of the sport in the long run [6]. Athlete tracking, wearable technology, and physiological monitoring can assist coaches and trainers improve the health and well-being of their athletes, while also maximizing their performance.…”
