Similar septae have been observed in mitochondria of cells treated with a variety of other agents that induce rapid mitochondrial division, such as dinitrophenol (DNP), A23187, caffeine and chloroform (30,53,54). Division of the mitochondrial inner membrane without division of the mitochondrial outer membrane has also been observed with mutant DRP‐1 (36) or with mutant MGM‐1 (M. D. Zappaterra and A. M. van der Bliek, unpublished) in C. elegans muscle cells.…”
