Este estudo investiga a remoção eficiente de corante rodamina B de águas residuais usando fotocatalisadores de SiO₂/ZnO sintetizados via sonicação com carga variada de nitrato de zinco (5%-25% em relação à massa de sílica). O catalisador preparado com 10% de nitrato de zinco e um tempo de sonicação de 10 minutos alcançou uma remoção notável de 93,35% do corante. Este bom desempenho é atribuído ao método ultrassônico, que facilita a dispersão melhorada e acessibilidade de locais ativos na superfície do catalisador. A caracterização do infravermelho de transformada de Fourier (FTIR) do catalisador ideal confirmou a presença de ZnO através de um modo de vibração de alongamento Zn-O característico a 470,41 cm⁻¹. Esses achados destacam o potencial promissor de fotocatalisadores de SiO₂/ZnO sob medida sintetizados com assistência ultrassônica para o tratamento ecologicamente correto de águas residuais contaminadas com corantes.
