Abstract: SUMMARY A technique is described for fashioning a permanent skull defect in the parietal region. This false fontanelle is employed as a simple clinical indicator of intracranial pressure in cases of hydrocephalus controlled by a ventriculo‐atrial shunt. In the first fifteen cases, re‐ossification occurred from the intact dura. The technique now includes reflection of dura and insertion of Dura Substitute.
