“…Its underlying mechanism might associate with opioid peptides, adenosine, dopamine, cytokines, norepinephrine, and serotonin. [52][53][54] We were unable to objectively assess the efficacy of certain functional recovery standards because there were insufficient data to provide robust estimates of how LOS and health quality of life evolve. Adverse events of acupuncture were mild though inconsistently described.…”

“…For example, EA treatment at the GV20 and ST36 acupoints improves model animal learning and memory abilities and protects against hippocampal injury, inhibits inflammatory factors, and regulates brain activity via antioxidative damage [ 25 , 26 ]. An increasing number of countries have endorsed the efficacy and safety of EA treatment [ 27 , 28 ]. These considerations led us to further explore the potential improving cognitive effects of EA treatment on CI in our SAMP8 mouse model.…”

“…Moreover, this study will exclude those who have received acupuncture treatment in the last 3 months and can distinguish SA from MA. The same control with no skin penetration at acupoints was adopted and succeeded in masking patients with DPN [ 7 , 14 , 15 , 18 ]. Furthermore, all patients will be asked to guess which treatment they have received to test the patient-blinding effects at week 12.…”
