With the development of architectural technology, the use of floor-to-ceiling windows has emerged widely. The ensuing problem is that more and more students and office workers are suffering from direct sunlight while working in specific areas. Based on the pain points of the working process, this study designed a portable product for improving visual comfort through field research and environment simulation. It provided a new personalized design for blocking direct sunlight from the working area using a portable and liftable sunshade curtain, allowing the users to control the height and angle of the sunshade curtain through a mobile phone application. It can also adjust itself according to environmental parameters collected by sensors, so as to block sunlight in certain areas. A simulation based on the design features and the light environment of a library is run, proving the model effective in improving these aspects. The study aimed to provide solutions for indoor visual comfort and suggestions for future indoor household designs.

Modern office building designers tend to propose highly glazed façades that provide occupants with a view and daylight; however, the use of such façades has consequences, like glare and high energy consumption, especially in warm climates. Shadings affect energy usage for cooling, heating, and artificial lighting, defined as the objectives and output in the optimizer algorithm. The input variables are shading type, WWR, the depth of the shading, the distance between the shading and the window, the distance between fins, the number of fins in shading, and the distance from the top of the window. This research aims to comprehensively study external shadings and window‐to‐wall ratios to reduce the high energy consumption in modern office buildings in Tehran and cities in locations with a similar climate. The results can benefit all scientists researching building science, architects, instructors, and those wanting to buy a low‐energy consumption office. Energy consumption was calculated in Ladybug–Honeybee; the best objectives were obtained for each shading with the optimization process by the Octopus plugin in Grasshopper. Results were analyzed and rated compared with a window without shading. The best scenario was obtained for Egg‐crate with a 14.86% reduction in cooling energy and a 20.04% increase in useful daylight illuminance.

Today's energy consumption is one of the most important causes of pollution around the world. Considering the building sector consumes the most energy, it should be seriously considered. In order to provide thermal comfort inside a building, energy is consumed, which can be managed using tools such as louvers that allow solar radiation to pass through the windows while reducing the amount of consumed energy. The goal of this paper is to find the optimal features for shading device of fixed louvers for the east, west, and south facades of the office building at Hakim Sabzevari University in terms of thermal efficiency using parametric analysis. For one year, three rooms on three floors of this building with window louvers at different depths, angles, and distances were thermally simulated with EnergyPlus software and the HoneyBee plugin in addition to the Galapagos plugin for optimization. Based on the optimized samples, it is possible to reduce the thermal energy consumption by 32.34%, 23.71%, and 30.2%, respectively using the ideal louvers on the east, south, and west facades. In terms of thermal efficiency, the distance between the blinds on the south facade and the angle between them on the east and west facades of a window louver are the most significant factors.
