Background: Educational multimedia software as a student-oriented educational tool provides an optimal educational condition, which allows students to view surgical videos and photographs and fill the gap between theoretical and practical training. Objectives: The present study aimed to compare the effects of multimedia tools and traditional methods on the neuroscience learning of the undergraduate students of surgical technology in Hamedan, Iran. Methods: This quasi-experimental, interventional study was conducted on 32 undergraduate students of four surgical technology courses, who were selected via convenience sampling. Neurosurgery sessions were divided into two parts, including traditional and multimedia-based education, which were used to teach the multimedia software in the field of neurosurgical topics (movies, photographs, and atlases). The learning of the students was measured by a written test. Data analysis was performed in SPSS version 23 using t-test, and paired t-test was also used to compare the differences between the traditional and multimedia education. Results: The multimedia education was more effective compared to the traditional method of learning in neurosurgery education (P < 0.001). Conclusions: According to the results, multimedia education could be used as a new and effective educational method in operating surgical technology and training.

Modern educational technology, embodied by multimedia network technology, is now widely used in education and teaching, and it offers distinct benefits in terms of improving classroom teaching effectiveness. Through videos, sounds, images, and animations, multimedia English teaching can show students all kinds of information more intuitively, vividly, and quickly. This paper attempts to apply multimedia-assisted teaching to the English classroom, combining the characteristics of the English subject and the requirements of curriculum standards, based on related theories of psychology and information technology. The learning effect can be established with the CET effective classroom environment construction and the three dimensions of the teaching process reflected by the evaluation scale and the path model with a good fitting degree. Teachers’ correct guidance will play a positive role in learners’ correct use of multimedia English learning resources, according to teaching practice. A simulated language environment can be created using multimedia technology, allowing students’ sensory organs to be activated more effectively, their attention to be drawn in, and their interest in English learning to improve.

Many universities around the world use multimedia resources in large classrooms. The purpose of this study is to determine if there is any significant influence on student academic performance due to the use of multimedia (environment and tools) and seating location. This study analyses student data on grade performance and seating location for an undergraduate course at a multimedia classroom over eight semesters. This study also analyses whether short multimedia materials attract student attention in class using a computer vision experimental setup. It has been found that there is similar performance and distraction rate of students who sit at a similar proximity to the multimedia screen. The findings of this study are valuable for academic institutions and educators to design multimedia lectures and classrooms to enhance student performance.
