The effect of resveratrol, curcumin and quercetin combination on immuno-suppression of tumor microenvironment for breast tumor-bearing mice

Abstract: Resveratrol, curcumin, and quercetin are the secondary metabolites from medicinal food homology plants, that have been proven their potency in cancer treatment. However, the antitumor effect of a single component is weak. So, herein, we designed an antitumor compound named RCQ composed of resveratrol, curcumin, and quercetin. This study examined the effect on tumorigenesis and development of 4T1 breast cancer-bearing mice following administering RCQ by intragastric administration. RCQ increased the recruitment… Show more

“…In terms of FDC products that include curcumin for cholesterol management or overall health, formulations often include other ingredients to enhance bioavailability or provide synergistic effects. Common additional ingredients found in curcumin-based supplements include piperine (BioPerine), , lecithin, or phospholipids, quercetin, , ginger extract, Boswellia serrata (Indian frankincense), omega-3 fatty acids, coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10), green tea extract, garlic extract, resveratrol, or berberine. , …”

“…However, most studies in the literature on the use of resveratrol in cancer have been carried out in mouse models. It has been used in combination with other supplements such as curcumin and quercetin, and these in vivo studies conclude that resveratrol supplementation may promote tumour cell apoptosis and also attenuate proteolysis, thus ameliorating some effects of cancer cachexia [ 66 , 67 ].…”

“…In our study, the conditioned medium of CAFs pre-treated with RV lost the ability to induce proliferation and invasiveness of cholangiocarcinoma cells [ 15 ]. The anticancer activity of RV has been proven in several preclinical in vivo models, including breast cancer [ 16 , 17 ], colorectal cancer [ 18 ], and lung cancer [ 19 ]. RV alone [ 19 ] or in combination with curcumin and quercetin [ 17 ] showed the ability to also modify the tumor microenvironment, reversing the infiltration of immunosuppressive Th2 lymphocytes, tumor-associated N2 neutrophils and tumor-associated M2 macrophages.…”
