“…Previous results have shown that age-related deficits in vision, proprioception, cognition, and attention can negatively impact postural stability and lower limb kinematics when crossing obstacles, 36-38 mainly because obstacle avoidance is a complex task for elderly people. 32,39,40 Therefore, the deficits caused by aging in the musculoskeletal and sensorial systems 36-38 may be more striking than cognitive impairment when combined with a challenge walking, such as obstacle avoidance, indicating that gait variability during obstacle clearance may not indicate cognitive disorders in AD.
