Abstract: A B S T R A C TThe specific activity of ucetotrophic methanogens and the physical behaviour of grunulur sludge in laboratory-scale upjlow unuerobic sludge bed ( U A S B ) reactors subjected to shock loads of lauric acid in the absence and presence of' calcium were studied.
