The effect of land subsidence on the selection of raw water sources in hotel and apartment buildings in Semarang city

Water use during peak hours and daily maximum are two interrelated terms in water usage patterns. Fluctuations in water use can be determined by planning standards, namely, estimates of peak hour and daily factors, so as to optimize air production and improve services. This study aims to calculate the maximum peak hour and daily factors. This research was carried out in the Special Region of Yogyakarta with a sampling technique carried out using a stratified proportional random sampling as many as 200 respondents. The results showed that the use of water at peak hours was 266.73 liters / day, which was in the morning between 06.00 and 08.00 am, while the maximum daily use of water is 774.09 litres/day which is on Sunday. The peak hour factor in the Special Region of Yogyakarta is 1.30 and the maximum daily factor is 1.26, when compared to the standard established by the Directorate General of Human Settlements, Ministry of Public Works, the peak hour factor is 1.5 while the daily maximum is 1.1. This means that the peak hour and maximum daily factors cannot be generalized in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.

Utilization of rainwater harvesting to conserve water in buildings in Semarang City

Rainwater harvesting makes a major contribution to sustainable development. The utilization of rainwater for building operations is in line with sustainable development goals for 2030. This research aims to provide an overview of rainwater which can be used as an alternative source of raw water in buildings in Semarang City. This research was carried out purposively on buildings in the city of Semarang that had received function-worthiness certificates. The research results show that the largest rainwater harvesting dimension is the Ciputra building of 372 m3 with rainwater potential that can be utilized in the form of runoff of 0.758 m3/second or 65491.2 m3/day, while the smallest dimension is the Pusatand building of 55 m3 with rainwater potential which can be utilized in the form of runoff of 0.112 m3/second or 9679.8 m3/day. Municipal waterworks (PDAM) tariff costs have decreased after carrying out rainwater harvesting. The largest percentage decline was in the Ciputra building, namely 65.72%, while the smallest was in The Pinnacle at 5.16%. The size of the Municipal waterworks (PDAM) water tariff is determined by the ground floor area of the building since the ground floor area contributes to the dimensions of rainwater harvesting.

The potential of infiltration wells to reduce runoff in apartment and hotel buildings in Semarang City

Besides being used as groundwater recharge, infiltration wells function as runoff controllers. This study aims to analyze the runoff of apartment and hotel buildings in Semarang City. The method used to calculate rain intensity is the Mononobe method. The value of the flow coefficient is calculated using the Hassing method, while the standard used to calculate infiltration wells is SNI 03-2453-2002 concerning infiltration wells. Based on groundwater depth and soil permeability, seven apartment and hotel buildings are not suitable for implementing infiltration wells, namely: H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, H8, and H10. The remaining three buildings are feasible, namely: H1, H7, and H9. Runoff discharges in apartment and hotel buildings in Semarang City that are eligible to use infiltration wells are H1 at 0.13 m3/sec, H7 at 0.18 m3/sec, and H9 at 0.10 m3/sec. While the discharge of water that seeps through the infiltration wells with a minimum permeability of 0.168 m/hour is 1.71 m3/hour and the value of the discharge of water that seeps through the infiltration wells with a maximum permeability of 5.083 m/hour is 51.89 m3/hour.
