This study aimed to determine the effect of video education about hypoglycemia on knowledge of diabetes mellitus patients and their families. This type of research is a quantitative study with a pre-experiment method. This study focused on two groups, namely, type 2 diabetes mellitus patients by 162 people, and the families of diabetes mellitus patients by 162 people. In the group of diabetes mellitus patients, the sample used 30 respondents who were divided into two groups, namely 15 respondents in the experimental group and 15 respondents in the control group. In the population of family diabetes mellitus patients, the sample applied 30 respondents, who were divided into 15 respondents for the experimental group and 15 respondents for the control group. Non-probability sampling with a purposive sampling technique was utilized. Data analysis using the paired t-test showed a p-value of 0.001 <0.05. So, it can be concluded that health education on knowledge of hypoglycemia in type 2 diabetes mellitus patients was effective in the working area of Puskesmas Nguter Sukoharjo. For the results of the paired t-test, we found p = <0.001 in the experimental group, which showed that there was an effect of hypoglycemia health education with videos on knowledge of type 2 diabetes families. Diabetes mellitus patients need to always adopt a healthy lifestyle so as to create a good health status and avoid complications of diabetes mellitus patients.

IntroductionA few cases of serious side effects have been reported of Momordica charantia L. (MC). No comprehensive safety assessment has yet been performed based on human intake.This systematic review aims to evaluate the potential harm of Momordica charantia L. derived products using data from randomized controlled trials.MethodsDatabases Cochrane Library, Pubmed and EMBASE were searched until December 2020. The PRISMA harms checklist was followed. Data extraction was on aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), creatinine, adverse effects (AE), reasons for drop out related to the intervention and interaction with other treatment. Two authors independently extracted data and bias was evaluated based on the latest version of the Cochrane risk of Bias Tool (RoB 2). Additional safety data were requested from Health Regulatory Agencies, Herbal Medicine Associations and manufacturers.ResultsSeventeen trials met the inclusion criteria. The IRR was calculated for each study ranging from 0.30 (95% CI = 0.12 to 0.75) to 13.00 (95% CI = 0.73 to 230.76) of any adverse events.ConclusionsUnder a daily dosage of 6g of MC-derived products no evidence was seen of harms in humans. In case reports that showed serious harm, MC was used in a liquid form. The safety of traditional MC-based supplements appears more guaranteed when produced under strict quality standards.

There is no consensus on the properties of an ideal dressing for treating wounds. The aim of this study was to investigate the efficacy of dressings using topically administered bitter melon extract with olive oil, pure olive oil, nitrofurazone, and saline in the healing of ischemic wounds. A sample group of 48 rats was used in the trial. Their wounds were treated with bitter melon extract, pure olive oil, nitrofurazone, and saline. Data were collected between October 2014 and April 2015. The highest percentage (94.7%) of wound healing was observed in the bitter melon extract group and the lowest percentage (86.3%) in the nitrofurazone group. At the end of the 21st day, macroscopic reepithelialization was observed in 9 wounds in the bitter melon extract group (75%), in 6 wounds in the pure olive oil group (50%), and in only 3 wounds in the nitrofurazone and saline groups (25%). It can be concluded that dressing with a bitter melon extract is more efficient in the treatment of wounds than using nitrofurazone or saline, and that dressing with olive oil accelerates wound healing, although not as much as dressing with bitter melon extract.
