The correlation between CYP4F2 variants and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease risk in Hainan Han population

Abstract: Background: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a complex pulmonary disease. Cytochrome P450 family 4 subfamily F member 2 (CYP4F2) belongs to cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes responsible for metabolism, its single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) were reported to be involved in metabolism in the development of many diseases. The study aimed to assess the relation between CYP4F2 SNPs and COPD risk in the Hainan Han population. Method: We genotyped five SNPs in CYP4F2 in 313 cases and 508 contr… Show more

“…In this study, five SNPs (rs3093203, rs3093144, rs12459936, rs3093110, and rs3093193) in CYP4F2 were selected according to previously published studies on the association between CYP4F2 polymorphisms and disease susceptibility (12)(13)(14). The genotype distributions of the candidate SNPs in controls met Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) (p >0.05).…”

“…Therefore, we propose a reasonable hypothesis that the pathogenesis of HAPE is related to CYP4F2 . Previously, polymorphisms of CYP4F2 were reported to be linked with the susceptibility to pulmonary disease including lung cancer and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease [ 15 , 16 ], but not HAPE. Our study is the first to discuss the relationship between CYP4F2 gene polymorphisms and HAPE risk in the Chinese Han population.…”
