Photocoagulation Through the Goldmann

“…A slit and a red-free filter have been added since to the coagulator, improving markedly its observa¬ tion system. Judging from the minimal ener¬ gy density found necessary to generate a satisfactory lesion, it can be concluded that our definition of a lesion will correspond ap¬ proximately to that described by Ham et al7 as a "minimal visible injury," but probably to somewhat less than what has been called a "grade 1 lesion" by Noyori et al 6 The Coagulation Effect.-Meyer-Schwick-erath8 found that immediately following photocoagulation some cohesion between retina and choroid by denaturated albumin is already present, but the solidity was found to be of a low degree. We have noted that in the following inflammatory phase heavy co¬ agulation of the retina is accompanied by the presence of varying amounts of intra-retinal and subretinal fluid.…”
