Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…In delineating the dual goals of ward attending, potential conflict areas become apparent. Wachter and Verghese 3 wrote about the tension between efficiency and teaching given the economics of health care. Fitzgerald expressed major concerns about how to fit teaching into rounds 4 .…”

“…As inpatient care has increased in pace and complexity in both academic and nonacademic settings, ward rounds (also called work rounds) conducted for bedside teaching have progressively become ward rounds undertaken for care coordination. 1 Invasive procedures, intensive monitoring and support, and uncontrolled symptoms such as pain comprise the most common causes of hospitalization for solid organ cancers. Admission to an acute care hospital is frequently unexpected, undermining the coordination of services established as part of outpatient cancer care.…”
