“…In these experiments, we compared amikacin and chloramphenicol since they have different physicochemical properties which are known to influence penetration of blood-brain and blood-aqueous humor barriers. Chloramphenicol, which is both lipophilic and uncharged (12), has better penetration of the blood-aqueous humor barrier (2,9,17,20) than does amikacin (8,17). Figure 3A and B show the mean drug levels in serum and aqueous humor of five rabbits given amikacin intravenously.…”
