The aim of this study was to examine evidence of validity for the Brazilian version of the Scale of Family Unpredictability during childhood. A total of 740 people participated in the study. The first sample was composed of 121 women over 40 years of age (Xage= 5.86), 157 adults in conflict with the law (148 men, Xage= 34.20), and 251 college students (122 men,Xage= 19.60). The second sample included 211 college students (90 men, Xage= 21.53). Exploratory and confirmatory analysis indicated that the three-dimensional model (nurturance, money, meals) presented a better goodness of fit, with satisfactory reliability indexes. A significant effect of all unpredictability factors on the purchasing power of the participants was found, confirming validity by contrasting groups of EIFI: people belonging to socioeconomic classes with lower purchasing power presented higher family unpredictability during childhood. We concluded that the three-dimensional EIFI is psychometrically adequate, allowing the differentiation of groups in the constructs evaluated.

RESUMO Este estudo buscou descrever o desenvolvimento perceptomotor de estudantes baianos, tal qual avaliado pelo Bender-Sistema de Pontuação Gradual, e explorar eventuais diferenças por idade, ano escolar e sexo. Participaram 388 escolares, ambos os sexos, entre 7 e 10 anos (M=8,94; DP=0,9), do segundo ao quinto ano do Ensino Fundamental de escolas públicas do interior da Bahia. Os resultados indicaram que 206 discentes apresentaram dificuldades na reprodução das figuras e, portanto, um desenvolvimento perceptomotor comprometido. Os estudantes em anos escolares mais avançados e mais velhos obtiveram melhores desempenhos no B-SPG do que os em anos escolares iniciais e mais novos. Embora os meninos tenham apresentado menos distorções no teste, não houve diferença significativa entre os sexos. Esses resultados são congruentes com os de outros estudos e apontam para a importância de que novas investigações sobre o tema sejam realizadas, especialmente em regiões ainda pouco investigadas. ABSTRACT-Bender Graded Scoring System: A comparison by age, school year and sex in Bahia children This study aimed to describe the perceptomotor development of Bahian students, as evaluated by Bender-Gradual Scoring System (B-SPG), and to explore differences related to age, school year and gender among the participants. The sample was composed of 388 school children, of both sexes, between 7 and 10 years of age (M=8.94, SD=0.9), from 2nd to 5th grade in inner city public schools in the state of of Bahia. The results indicated that 206 students had difficulties reproducing figures and therefore an impaired perceptomotor development. Older students and those in later school years had better B-SPG performance tan younger students or those in the lower grades. Although the boys experienced less distortion in the test, there was no significant difference between the sexes. These results are consistent with other studies and point to the importance of further research on the subject, especially in poorly investigated regions.

The acquisition of new knowledge depends on the interaction of diverse ability that can facilitate the cognitive processes that underlie learning. The aim of this paper is to verify the relationship between perceptive-motor maturity and planning, visual perception, immediate memory, and non-verbal intelligence, as well as how age and perceptive-motor maturity can predict performance in these variables. Therefore, we used the screening version of the Bender test - Gradual Scoring System, Rey Complex Figure Test, and Human Figure Drawing - Sisto scale. The study included 693 children whose ages range from 6 to 10 years (M = 8.42; DP = 1.38). The results presented statistically significant correlations between all the instruments, indicating that the more developed visual perception and motor coordination, the biggest is the probability that children have succeed in tasks that depend of planning skills, the ability to retain and process information, and the conceptual repertoire.
