“Ten steps for the maternal breastfeeding success” compliance in “baby-friendly hospitals” in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil

Abstract: Objective: to evaluate the performance of the "Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding" in "Baby-Friendly Hospitals" in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil. Method: a survey conducted by interviewing 419 mothers in five Baby-Friendly Hospitals, reference centers in the state. The sample was based on the number of deliveries performed in the 12 months prior to data collection. For inclusion of the mothers: prenatal care and deliveries in the research institution, the postpartum period> 6 hours, absence of clinical comp… Show more

“…We have also examined the nephelauxetic effect in the two complexes from the red shift of the 5 D 0 -7 F 0 transition and compared with a covalency scale based on the overlap polarizability concept, a* op , in order to obtain information on their relative covalent fractions [6][7][8]. The nephelauxetic red shift has been defined with respect to the gaseous Eu 3+ calculated value of the 5 D 0 -7 F 0 transition energy [29].…”

“…The stabilization energies of these compounds are dominated by the electrostatic Coulomb interaction between the lanthanide ion (positive charge) and the electric multipolar moments in the ligands. Recently a scale of covalency for europium complexes based on the overlap polarizability values has been proposed [6][7][8]. The nephelauxetic effect (the red shift observed in the 4f-4f transitions with respect to the free ion) on the 5 D 0 -7 F 0 transition of the trivalent europium ion has been satisfactorily rationalized in terms of this new covalency scale.…”
