TcTASV Antigens of Trypanosoma cruzi: Utility for Diagnosis and High Accuracy as Biomarkers of Treatment Efficacy in Pediatric Patients

Abstract: The discovery and characterization of novel parasite antigens to improve the diagnosis of Trypanosoma cruzi by serological methods and for accurate and rapid follow-up of treatment efficiency are still needed. “…Previous data of our group evidenced the utility of TcTASV-C and TcTASV-A proteins in diagnostic tests. Despite the best performance of serology included both TcTASV-A and C subfamilies, TcTASV-A was more sensitive than TcTASV-C to detect human infections at early chronic phase (young adults and children) as well as dogs without evidence of circulating parasites 12,13 , suggesting its expression in chronic infections.
