Abstract: Mitochondrial metabolites and their derivatives have been the focus of recent efforts to develop new anti-inflammatory therapeutics. The widely used therapeutic agents dimethyl fumarate (DMF) and metformin have anti-inflammatory properties and have been shown to target metabolism.
