“…Ito (3), in reporting his original case, did not describe any extracutaneous abnormality, apart from asymmetry of breast size, and considered incontinentia pigmenti achromians as a systematized, bilateral, depigmented nevus. Many authors have supported this view (19,24). In particular, Orlow (25) suggested that HI be considered a continuum of phenotypes, ranging from a pigmentary abnormality only to a pigmentary abnormality plus multiple associated anomalies, employing the term HI without or with systemic involvement.…”

Exaggerated anticipatory anxiety is common in social anxiety disorder (SAD). Neuroimaging studies have revealed altered neural activity in response to social stimuli in SAD, but fewer studies have examined neural activity during anticipation of feared social stimuli in SAD. The current study examined the time course and magnitude of activity in threat processing brain regions during speech anticipation in socially anxious individuals and healthy controls (HC). Method Participants (SAD n = 58; HC n = 16) underwent functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) during which they completed a 90s control anticipation task and 90s speech anticipation task.

“…Differential diagnosis of HI cutaneous lesions usually includes nevus depigmentosus, also known as achromic or hypochromic nevus. In fact, depigmenled iesions of HI are currently still considered by some authors as depigmented nevi (12). It is not known if the depigmented lesions in syndromes such as tuberous sclerosis, Waardenburg syndrome, ataxia telangiectasia, neurofibromatosis, and a number of other conditions (13) are identical.…”

“…Two of our patients had generalized NDP. Some authors believe that incontinentia pigmenti achromians is a variant of generalized NDP (8,9). Others, however, believe that they are two different entities (2).…”
