“…In this work, BCP/Ce synthesis as a potential osteoporotic bone filler was carried out by the sol-gel method. Based on the previous work [31], the molar ratio of (Ca + Ce)/P was kept constant at 1.2 due to the hope that the composition of resulted BCP contains more β-TCP than HA. A slow reaction process, low drying temperature, and relatively low firing temperature supported by the similarity of Ce 3+ and Ca 2+ properties would allow a maximum isomorphic substitution.…”

“…From the figure 6 it is clear that calcium phosphate layer partially formed on the surface of porous titanium component even though under cyclic loading in Simulated Body Fluid. From EDS analysis in figure 7 and mapping in figure 8, the presence of calcium phosphate was confirmed and calcium phosphate (Ca/P) atomic ratio was calculated 1.44, which is near to b-TCP and HA phase and these phases are highly recommended for osteoconductivity [16]. This result clearly proved the biocompatibility of porous titanium components developed by replica impregnation method.…”

“…It was reported that for the preparation of BCP by the sol-gel synthesis method the calcium nitrate and P 2 O 5 instead of ammonium hydrogen phosphate as starting materials could be successfully used [229,230]. The different phase ratios of CHAp/β-TCP which influence the bioproperties of BCP were obtained by changing the sintering temperature.…”
