“…have found that the porous SiC membrane support was not suitable for application in high‐temperature and water vapor atmosphere because of the observed decrease in porosity and pore size. Yttrium disilicate (Y 2 Si 2 O 7 ) materials have attracted many attentions in high‐temperature structural applications, and especially, it could be used as ceramic coating or separation membrane materials due to its high thermal stability, high melting point (1775°C), low thermal conductivity, good thermal shock resistance, very close thermal expansion coefficient, and good mechanical and chemical compatibility when used together with SiC matrix . As a result, the preparation and the enhanced performances of high‐temperature silicon‐based ceramics using yttrium disilicate and SiC as raw materials are potentially feasible.…”

“…Attempts to get pure phase Y 2 Si 2 O 7 without parasitic polymorphism ( y ‐Y 2 Si 2 O 7 ) or nonstoichiometric compound Y 4.67 (SiO 4 ) 3 O are almost impossible by the conventional solid‐state, hydrothermal, and sol–gel methods. Several groups have synthesized and studied some performances of Y 2 Si 2 O 7 materials. Their studies have demonstrated that the single‐phase synthesis of stoichiometric Y 2 Si 2 O 7 is full of difficulties.…”

“…The typical methods for fabricating Y 2 Si 2 O 7 include the conventional solid-state reaction of mixed Y 2 O 3 and SiO 2 powders and the calcination of yttrium disilicate precursors synthesized by sol-gel and hydrothermal processing [30][31][32][33][34][35]. In this work, single-phase porous γ-Y 2 Si 2 O 7 ceramic was synthesized by the in situ reaction sintering foam-gelcasting method using natural gelatin.…”
