Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Dispersed in Various Aqueous Media Using Laser Ablation

Abstract: The particle size, morphology, and stability of Ag-NPs were investigated in the present study. A Q-Switched Nd: YAG pulsed laser (λ = 532 nm, 360 mJ/pulse) was used for ablation of a pure Ag plate for 30 min to prepare Ag-NPs in the organic compound such as ethylene glycol (EG) and biopolymer such as chitosan. The media (EG, chitosan) permitted the making of NPs with well dispersed and average size of Ag-NPs in EG is about 22 nm and in chitosan is about 10 nm in spherical form. Particle size, morphology, and s… Show more

“…Analysis of UV-Vis spectra was done by using a double beam spectrophotometer (Shimadzu uv-1650 pc spectrophotometer) [23]. The solution of silver nanoparticles was monitored by measuring the UV-Vis spectrum of the reaction solution in the 300 -900 nm wavelength rang after diluting a small aliquot of the solution into deionized water.…”

“…AgNPs of size ranging from 15.1 to 4.3 nm were synthesized by laser ablation of an Ag target in deionised water at a relatively high laser fluence of 15 J/cm 2 which increased linearly with an increase in water layer thickness and reached maximum value of 14 mm thickness [255]. AgNPs of size (22.08 and 10.5 nm) were prepared in the organic compound (ethylene glycol) and biopolymer (chitosan), respectively, by ablation of a pure Ag plate for 30 min using A Q-Switched Nd: YAG pulsed laser ( = 532 nm, 360 mJ/pulse) [256]. Laser ablation was used for the synthesis of AgNPs (6-12 nm) on a high purity silver bulk in distilled water by optimizing the effect of laser fluences [257].…”

“…The distance between target plate and laser source was 10 cm, diameter of laser spot on a targeted plate was 1 mm. After that, a yellowish colloidal solution of silver nanomaterial was obtained [28] with some modification.…”

“…The synthesis of AgNPs using the pulse laser ablation on silver metal plate was confirmed by the color change. The color of the solutions changed from colorless to yellowish during the ablation and to yellowish-brown depending concentration [28]. To monitor the synthesis and stability of AgNPs, the absorption spectra of the AgNPs were observed using UVvisible spectroscopy for same samples several times for 2 weeks.…”
