Abstract: Strains. -Starting from a common building block, chloropyrimidine (I), two pathways lead to title analogues (VII) and (XI): the Wittig-Wadsworth-Emmons reaction via the Wittig precursor (V), and the Heck reaction via Heck precursor (IX).
