Synthesis of nano‐sized magnetite mesoporous carbon for removal of Reactive Yellow dye from aqueous solutions

Abstract: In this study, core‐shell structures of magnetite nanoparticles coated with CMK‐8 ordered mesoporous carbon (Fe3O4@SiO2‐CMK‐8 NPs) have been successfully synthesized for the first time by carbonizing sucrose inside the pores of the Kit‐6 mesoporous silica. The nano‐sized mesoporous particles were characterized by X‐ray diffraction, Fourier transform‐infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, dynamic light scattering, vibrating‐sample magnetometer, Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) and transmission electro… Show more

“…Raising the pH i to ≥5 reduces the protonation of the functional groups on the surface of CAPB-NC 2‑60‑3 ; consequently, repulsion between the anionic RY160 and the surface functional groups of CAPB-NC 2‑60‑3 takes place and leads to a sharp reduction in R %. This result agrees with the previously published literature …”

“…Meanwhile the adsorption decreased with increasing pH in basic medium due to the repulsion and competition between the negatively charged functional group of the dye and the hydroxyl group of the basic medium. These results agree with the previous data in literature [28].…”

“…The corresponding peaks at 2θ = 39.91°, 45.16° and 66.86° 2θ is correspondence to Pd particles. These pieces of evidence show that Pd is well stabilized on the nanocatalyst 36 , 37 .
