“…Until now, various ways have been employed for preparing porous ceramics, such as the replica technique, free drying, direct foaming, foam gel-casting, reaction bonding, sacrificial template, gel-casting, pore forming agent (PFA), extrusion, sol-gel method and so on, among which freeze drying [7,8,9] and gel casting [10,11] are preferred due to their simplicity and affordability. Gel-casting is a well-established near-net-shape technology for producing high-quality and complex shaped ceramic parts.…”

“…The unique fracture behavior exhibited by the as‐prepared high‐precision honeycomb Si 3 N 4 ceramics also allowed us to prepare large‐scale honeycomb sandwich ceramics in the future. The compressive strengths of other state‐of‐the‐art 3D‐printed honeycomb and lattice ceramics are summarized in Figure 4d 4,40–48 . It can be proved that the preparation of Si 3 N 4 honeycomb ceramics in this work has relatively excellent mechanical properties, and this research will further simplify the preparation process of honeycomb Si 3 N 4 ceramics and greatly reduce the manufacturing cost.…”

“…Among porous ceramics with different pore structures, porous ceramics with unidirectionally aligned pore channels are attracting much attention because they are expected to have higher permeability 8‐9 . A variety of methods have been applied to prepare porous ceramics with unidirectionally aligned pore channels including extrusion molding process, 10‐11 self‐organization process, 12‐13 and freeze casting method 14‐19 . Compared to other methods, freeze casting, as a novel method, possesses many advantages including environment‐friendliness, small processing shrinkage (after vacuum drying) and is effective for porosity controlling, and thus has gained considerable attentions in recent years 20 …”
