Synthesis, Characterization and Filtration Properties of Ecofriendly Fe3O4 Nanoparticles Derived from Olive Leaves Extract

Abstract: Recently, value-added nanomaterials including nanoparticles or nanofluids have been significantly used in designing drilling fluids with tunable rheological properties to meet specific downhole and environmental requirements. In this work, we report novel water-based drilling fluids (WBDF) containing eco-friendly Fe3O4 nanoparticles (Fe3O4-NPs) prepared by using olive leaves extract (OLE) as a reducing and capping agent. A series of economical and excellent performance of WBDF was obtained by introducing low, … Show more

“…For example, green synthesis eliminates the use of expensive chemicals and toxic reagents, consumes less energy, and generates environmentally benign products 25 . In previous works, we already used this method to study low‐temperature green route synthesis of Fe 3 O 4 ‐C nanocomposite and synthesis, characterization, and filtration properties of ecofriendly Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles derived from olive leaves extract 22,23 …”

“…Some methods for the preparation of copper oxide nanostructures have been reported recently such as the sonochemical method, 12 sol–gel technique, 13 one step solid state reaction method at room temperature, 18 electrochemical method, 19 thermal decomposition of precursors, 17 and chemical vapor deposition 20 . Green chemistry is becoming one of the most important fabrication method because it is not complicated, not costly, friendly to the environment and not toxic to the human or nature 21–25 . For example, green synthesis eliminates the use of expensive chemicals and toxic reagents, consumes less energy, and generates environmentally benign products 25 .…”

“…As applications examples of iron oxide nanoparticles (iron oxide nanoparticles) in technical and engineering fields, their function can quoted as pigments in catalysis or for magnetic storage media to gas sensors, optical devices, electromagnetic devices, filtration, medical and neuro biological fields [5,[17][18][19][20][21]. They are useful in all these applications because of their unique properties, such as small particle size, surface chemistry and superparamagnetic behavior.…”
