Synthesis, Characterization, and Catalytic Applications of Palladacyclic Complexes Bearing C,N,S‐Donor Ligands

Abstract: The preparations of novel tridentate C,N,S-donor ligand precursors, PhN=C(CMe 2 )(NPh)C=N(CH 2 ) 2 SR [R = CMe 3 (2); R = Ph (3)] are described. Treatment of 2 and 3 with 1 equiv. of Pd(OAc) 2 affords the orthometallated palladium(II) complexes [PhN=C(CMe 2 )(N-η 1 -Ph)C=N(CH 2 ) 2 SR]Pd(OAc) [R = CMe 3 (4); R = Ph (5)]. Reaction of 4 and 5 with an excess of LiCl in methanol affords the orthometallated palladium(II)[a] 4642 complexes [PhN=C(CMe 2 )(N-η 1 -Ph)C=N(CH 2 ) 2 SR]PdCl [R = CMe 3 (6); R = Ph (7)]. “…[ 16 ] It is known that zinc phthalocyanine with multiple and symmetrical carboxyl groups is relatively easy to synthesize; however, it is unfavorable for linking with the semiconductor. [ 17 ] Therefore, we designed and synthesized an unsymmetrical ZnPc with a single carboxyl group, and it was expected to have a better directionality in electronic coupling with a semiconductor and good solubility. [ 18 ] The maximal absorption peaks of the two dyes mentioned above in solution were at 472 nm and 675 nm, respectively ( Figure S2, Supporting Information).…”

“…[23a] However, its behavior towards 4-bromoanisole (entry 9) is similar to that of sulfur- [18,28] or hydrazone-containing [29] palladacycles as well as imine-based palladium complexes. [20] The behavior of indolyl complex 13 b was very similar to that of 2 b (entries 3 and 5).…”

“…Synthesis of ionophore. Synthesis of zinc mononitrophthalocyanine and zinc monoamino-phthalocyanine Zinc mononitro-phthalocyanine was synthesized by modifying the procedure reported for the synthesis of monocarboxyphthalocyanine [25]. 4-Nitrophthalic anhydride 0.005 mole, 0.965 g, phthalic anhydride 0.035 mol, 5.18 g, zinc chloride anhydrous 0.01 mole, 1.363 g, urea 25 g, and traces of ammonium molybdate tetrahydrate as a catalyst 0.01 g were added to the round bottom flask containing 30 mL of nitrobenzene.…”
