Abstract: The reaction of cobalt(II) chloride with a new class of thiosemicarbazones viz; cis-3,7-dimethyl-2,6-octadienthiosemicarbazone(CDOTSC; L 1 H) and 3,7-dimethyl-6-octenethiosemicarbazone (DOTSC; L 2 H) and N-phthaloyl derivative of DL-glycine(A 1 H), L-alanine(A 2 H) or L-valine(A 3 H) in 1:1:1 molar ratio in dry refluxing ethanol have been studied. All the isolated complexes have the general composition [Co(L)(A)]. Tentative structures are proposed for these complexes based upon elemental analysis, electrical c… Show more

“…On the other hand, TNT-apt is a small peptide containing several carboxyl and amino groups. It was reported that amino acid was readily coordinated with Co 2+ . In this case, TNT-apt may coordinate with Co 2+ to form a complex, which also contributed to the interaction between TNT-apt and Co 2+ /ABEI/MBs.…”

“…However, the high hydrophobicity of betulin hampers its further development as a cytotoxic drug [27][28][29]. Thiosemicarbazones and semicarbazones are classes of Schiff bases, which are highly regarded by medicinal chemists due to their extensive pharmacological properties or bio activities, such as antifungal [30], anti-chlamydial [31], antibacterial [32][33][34] and antima larial activities [35][36][37][38]. Notably, thio-/semicarbazone compounds have a wide antitumo spectrum against various tumor types, such as breast cancer [39][40][41], non-small-cell lung cancer [42], pancreatic cancer [43], leukemia [44], bladder cancer [45] and prostate cance [46].…”

“…Thus, inspired by the good biological property of thio-/semicarbazones, in view o the potential medicinal research value of betulin and in continuation of an ongoing pro gram aiming at developing more potential anticancer drugs, in the present study, 14 bet ulin derivatives modified at the C-28 position with thio-/semicarbazide groups were de signed and synthesized (Figure 3). We hope to obtain valuable information about the im pact of thio/semicarbazone moiety at the C-28 position on cytotoxic activity and their un derlying mechanisms of antitumor effect Thiosemicarbazones and semicarbazones are classes of Schiff bases, which are highly regarded by medicinal chemists due to their extensive pharmacological properties or bioactivities, such as antifungal [30], anti-chlamydial [31], antibacterial [32][33][34] and antimalarial activities [35][36][37][38]. “…Preparations of several types of metal complexes using various amino acids as ligands are becoming increasingly important primarily owing to their various applications of such complexes in different biological fields [1][2][3][4]. Mixedligand complex formation occurs widely in systems where metal ions and two or more different ligands are present [5].…”
