Synthesis and properties of polyacrylamide by nanoparticles, effect nanoclay on stability polyacrylamide solution

Abstract: Polyacrylamide (PAM)-encapsulated clay nanoparticles (NPs) were successfully synthesised by conventional emulsion polymerisation for solving the aggregation matter of nanoscaled clay. A novel nanofluid based on PAM has been developed and its' attributes have been experimentally tested as an optimised solution. The frequency, sonication time effect, NPs and polymer concentration on the constant salinity and particle size (PS) distribution of samples was investigated. The solutions of polymer at different freque… Show more

“…Consequently, some catalytic agents such as nanoparticles have been used for the adsorption [21,22,23,24,25] and subsequent transformation of the asphaltenes [26,27,28,29,30,31]. This is due to nanoparticle properties, such as size, surface area, and surface energy density, among others, that favors the application to the HO and EHO reservoirs [13,20,21,25,31,32,33,34,35,36,37,38]. Some nanoparticles that have been used in steam gasification [25] are derived from transition element oxides, such as nanoparticles of Co 3 O 4 , NiO, Fe 3 O 4 [20].…”

“…From a broader perspective, our findings of molecular interactions between nanoparticles and bitumen will open up a new avenue that will be an inspiration in the nanotechnology concept in asphalt. Clay/silica was prepared with hydrothermal syntheses method using a procedure adapted from Yang et al 51 and Cheraghian et al 30,52 . The size distribution of materials and X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern were evaluated with dynamic light scattering (DLS) (Malvern ZEN 3600, UK) and X-ray powder diffraction (Philips PW 1730, Netherlands) analyses, as shown in Fig.…”

“…In addition, thickening power reduces at elevating shear rate and shear stress, which is contributed to the irreversible shear degradation of its flexible linear chains. [7][8][9][10][11] To guarantee polymer mobility-control ability in polymer flooding under high-temperature and high-salinity conditions, one way is to increase HPAM concentration. Nevertheless, cost increases steeply and there is no economic feasibility under the condition of international oil price slump [12] ; another way is to develop novel polymers with favorable temperature-resistance, salt-tolerance, and shearing resistance, which is important to promote the development of polymer flooding.…”
