“…Recently we have reported IR, NMR, and molar mass data for the complexes of uranyl bis(β-diketonates) with the CMP type of ligand and showed that they act as a bridging bidentate species. 5 There have been no previous structural studies to support our spectroscopic and molar mass data, and we report here the first structurally characterized complex of an actinide ion in which the malonamide (malonanilide) moiety acts as a bridging bidentate ligand.…”

“…In a few cases the material has been characterized using single-crystal X-ray diffraction methods (Taylor & McLaren, 1979;Lu et al, 1977;Taylor & Waugh, 1977a,b;Kannan et al, 2001a). In continuation of our work on uranyl bis(-diketones) with neutral donor ligands (Kannan & Venugopal, 1995;Kannan, Venugopal, Pillai, Droege, Barnes & Schlmber, 1996;Kannan et al, , 2001aKannan & Ferguson, 1997;Kannan, 2000;Fun et al, 2002;Rajagopal et al, 2002), we report here the structure of [UO 2 (DBM) 2 (Ph 3 PO)], (I), where DBM is dibenzoyl methanate.…”

“…This observation prompted us to study the nature of the compound formed in the solid state when the nature of the uranyl bis(-diketonate) is changed, for a given crown ether, in particular benzo-15-crown-5. As part of our systematic work on synergistic compounds of uranyl bis(diketonates) with neutral donor ligands (Kannan & Venugopal, 1995;Kannan, Venugopal, Pillai, Droege, Barnes & Schlemper, 1996;Kannan & Ferguson, 1997;Kannan et al, 1997;Kannan, 2000;Kannan et al, 2001a, b), we report here the structure of [UO 2 (DBM) 2 ÁH 2 O(benzo-15-crown-5)], (I) (DBM is the dibenzoylmethanate anion). It is interesting to note that benzo-15-crown-5 is hydrogen bonded to only one [UO 2 (DBM) 2 (H 2 O)] molecule in the solid state; this is different from what is observed in compound (1), where the crown-ether molecule bridges two [UO 2 (TTA) 2 (H 2 O)] complexes.…”
