Synthesis and characterization of arginine-doped heliotrope leaves with high clean-up capacity for crystal violet dye from aqueous media

Abstract: Novel an arginine-modified Heliotrope leaf (Arg@HL) was used as adsorbent for the crystal violet (CV) dye adsorption in a batch process. The physicochemical and morphological composition of Arg@HL were characterized by field-emission-scanning-electron-microscopy (FE-SEM), Fourier transforms infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The experiments were carried out to investigate the factors that influence the dye uptake by the adsorbent, such as t… Show more

“…The calculated thermodynamic parameters are given in Table 3 . The calculated negative values of isosteric enthalpy and free energy changes for both dyes indicate that the adsorption process is spontaneous and exothermic ( Brini et al, 2021 ). It can also be seen from this table that the calculated isosteric adsorption entropy changes for both ionic dye adsorptions are relatively small and of opposite sign.…”

“…The dyes are extensively employed in the different industrial sectors such as printing, paper and textile, and hence, become a major cause of environmental pollution. [446][447][448][449] Therefore, it an urgent need of hour to treat the dyes contaminated environment in a proper way. However, to achieve that aim, a large number of treatment methods have been employed.…”
