Abstract: 5-substituted 4-(4-chlorophenyl)- 4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-thiones 3 and 2-substituted 5-(4-chlorophenylamino)-1,3,4-thiadiazoles 4 were prepared from the intermediate thiosemicarbazides 2 under basic and acidic conditions, respectively. The thiosemicarbazides, in turn, were prepared by the reaction of hydrazides 1 with 4-chlorophenylisothiocyanate in MeOH. Some of the new synthesized compounds were assayed against HIV-1 and HIV-2 in MT-4 cells. All the compounds were inactive except 3f, which showed an EC 50 valu… Show more

“…Chiral compounds are highly selective biological agents because of the specificity associated with enzymatic structure. Synthesis of chiral heterocyclic compounds especially chiral triazoles is not well known and only few examples are found in the literature [10][11][12]. 1,2,4-Triazole and its derivatives show a broad spectrum of biological activities depending on the substitution pattern around the ring [13,14].…”

“…They are first-line drugs in the treatment of fungal infections, because of their high therapeutic index. Besides their antifungal activity (Rezaei et al, 2009), they show different potential activities such as antibacterial (Bagihalli et al, 2008), antitubercular (Wujec et al, 2008), antiproliferative (Manfredini et al, 2000), anti-HIV (Akhtar et al, 2007) and antiviral (Holla et al, 2001).…”

“…Derivatives of 4,5-substituted 1,2,4-triazole were synthesized by intramolecular cyclization of 1,4-disubstituted thiosemicarbazides 15 . In addition there are some studies on electronic structures and thiol-thione tautomeric equilibrium of heterocyclic thione derivatives [16][17][18][19] .…”
