Groundwater serves as one of the important sources of water supply for Binh Thuan province, Vietnam during dry seasons. This water source is concentrated in Quaternary sediments with two aquifers qh and qp. Geophysical methods have been applied, performing geological drilling, observing and monitoring boreholes. Determine the characteristics of the qh and qp aquifers, located along the coast of Binh Thuan province. Our research has shown that these reservoirs are contaminated. Water sources are at high risk of being contaminated with mineral oil, radioactive, organic, bacterial and saline contamination. The article warned about water resource risks in Binh Thuan province and proposed remedial measures to ensure water resources for Binh Thuan province.

Binh Thuan province has a coastline of about 192 km, the coastline connecting with the surrounding space to create the coastal ecosystem. This is an important area for the socio-economic development of Binh Thuan province. However, in the process of development, some existing problems have been revealed, limiting the manifestation of unsustainability, especially the use of water resources. Research results show that, at present, Binh Thuan province has 188 mining and mineral processing enterprises, which not only consume a lot of water but also pollute the environment and exhaust water resources of Binh Thuan province. In order to reduce water shortage in Binh Thuan province, it is necessary to have specific and strict solutions to improve water efficiency. On the basis of monitoring data and the help of Seawat model, the study has determined coastal water reserves of Binh Thuan province, thereby determining the amount of water to be safely exploited. These data have been integrated with the RCP4.5 scenario and forecast for the years 2030, 2060 and 2090. From there, we propose some solutions to overcome water shortage, serving sustainable development. coastal water resources of Binh Thuan province.

The study aims to assess the quality of industrial effluent in Bac Lieu province using multivariate statistical analysis. The effluent from wastewater treatments plants were collected at 12 locations with nine parameters including pH, biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), ammonium (N-NH4 +), chloride (Cl−), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) and total coliforms. Effluent quality is compared with national technical regulations on industrial wastewater and seafood processing wastewater column B (QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT and QCVN 11-MT:2015/BTNMT, respectively). Principal component analysis (PCA) was performed to determine the important parameters affecting the quality of industrial wastewater effluent in the study area. The results showed that industrial wastewater effluent was high in organic matters, nutrients, microorganisms which exceeded the allowable limits of QCVN 40:2011/BTNMT and QCVN 11-MT:2015/ BTNMT. Correlation analysis showed that most industrial wastewater effluent parameters were closely correlated proving the treatment systems having problems in its operations. The results of PCA presented that pH, COD, BOD, TSS, TN, TP, N-NH4+ and total coliforms mainly affected industrial wastewater effluent. These parameters would negatively change surface water quality at the receiving water bodies. Improvement of wastewater treatment system efficiency is urgently needed to comply with discharge regulations and to protect precious surface water quality. The study’ results provide useful information for local environmental managers to enhance management strategies to reach the environment sustainable goals in the locality development.
