Mathematics teachers’ pedagogy (MTP) is an integral part of classroom instructional mediation through technology or manipulatives. This article describes a logical literature analysis for the MTP and technology with GeoGebra (GG). The findings reveal the intervention impact of MTP with GG and other technologies such as matrix laboratory (MATLAB); an interactive whiteboard (IWB) and computer algebra system (CAS); wxMaxima, which is a CAS; information and communication technologies (ICT); concrete materials as well as other resources in developing students’ performances in mathematics which were generally effective too. The systematic literature review (SLR) explored findings from current research between January 2011 and October 2020. Quality assessment screening of the papers was done and alongside further elimination of repeated documents from the analysis, twenty-eight publications met the refinement and inclusion/exclusion criteria out of 110 papers. The modified preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) outline exemplifies the literature review accordingly. The authors observed, accomplished, and discussed the significance of the SLR. This was followed by the constraints, upcoming directions for MTP with technology and GG, and the MTP consequences for education and research.

Froebel Gifts are the first educational materials designed for kindergarten children in the education history. After Froebel introduced the first construction and design materials for early childhood mathematics education in 1850’s, several companies such as Lego Bricks, Lincoln Logs, and K’nex were influenced by his design. Considering the influence of Froebel Gifts on mathematics and geometry education tools for young children, it is important to analyze their impact on pre-school children’s geometry skills. This study investigated the effects of a geometry education program mediated with Froebel Gifts on 5-6 years-old children’s geometric skill development. The participants consisted of 40 pre-school children in Istanbul, Turkey. Twenty children in the experimental group received an 8-week intervention with Froebel Gifts while the control group continued their regular program. Early Geometry Skill Test (EGST) was used before and after the intervention and the collected data were analyzed with an independent sample T-test. The results indicate a significant change in favor of the experimental group in the skills of building with blocks, recognizing the three-dimensional objects, predicting the surface shape of the three-dimensional objects, and recognizing the side and corner properties of two-dimensional shapes. The teacher’s instructional strategies and the physical and representational properties of Froebel Gifts are discussed and evaluated in the light of these results to provide insight into the features of an effective geometry education.

Há muitas dúvidas quanto ao uso de recursos digitais no ensino de matemática. É preciso escolher o software adequado aos conteúdos e aos propósitos de ensino. O objetivo foi elaborar estratégias didático-metodológicas para o uso de software gratuitos no ensino de Matemática (6º ao 9º ano), assim como validá-las. As estratégias foram elaboradas conjuntamente com professores que as aplicaram com seus alunos. Duas turmas resolveram os mesmos exercícios em 4 diferentes situações avaliativas para a estratégia validada. O percentual de acertos foi analisado pelo teste Kruskal Wallis. Cinco software para conteúdos problemáticos do ponto de vista docente, identificados pelos professores de matemática, e três das etapas da Teoria dos Modelos Genéricos foram considerados na elaboração de 19 estratégias. Dentre as 11 estratégias validadas, pode-se afirmar que a maioria foi favorável ao aprendizado do aluno. Principalmente, quando as estratégias são inseridas após o conteúdo ser trabalhado em sala de aula.
