“…[46]. The studies reported in the literature, involving DMPC, CHOL and DMPC:CHOL (7:3) mixture show slight differences that can be assigned to different experimental conditions such as buffer solution and temperature [47][48][49][50] The results obtained in this work remain within the dispersion found for the reported studies.…”

“…27 No matter what kind of acidic ethanolic washing solutions were utilized, the positively charged pure À ÀNH 2 terminated-SAM exhibited a less amount of adherent platelets than the anionic pure À ÀCOOH terminated counterpart. Lee and Chen 11 have demonstrated similar results in LB monolayer, in which fewer platelets adhesion on a À ÀNH 2 terminated LB film was noted as compared with the À ÀCOOH terminated one. It is surprising to notice that the corresponding surface mole fraction of the À ÀNH 2 terminal functionality (X NH 2 ,surface) on the least platelet adherent mixed SAMs in both acidic ethanolic treatment series were all close to 50%.…”

“…Similar findings were also reported on the monolayer formed by the LB film of zwitterionic lipids of DPPC and DMPC. 11 Surface preabsorbed protein has been recognized as an important factor in mediating the subsequent interactions between platelets and biomaterials. 27 Lestelius et al has found that the SAM formed by the alkanethiol with charge-neutral À ÀOH terminal group showed a low deposition of plasma protein in general.…”

“…In fact, Lee and Chen [11] have shown that the blood platelet adhesion on substrates is largely affected by the pretreatment with, among others, DPPC (dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine, or 1,2-dipalmitoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine) and DMPC (dimyristoylphosphatidylcholine or 1,2-dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine).…”
