Surface Micropatterning: Deterministic Order in Surface Micro‐Topologies through Sequential Wrinkling (Adv. Mater. 40/2012)

Abstract: , Karen K. Gleason, Mary C. Boyce, and co‐workers demonstrate a deterministic method to obtain orderly herringbone patterns through buckling of a stiff thin film deposited by chemical vapor deposition on a compliant substrate. Controlling the stretching and releasing of the sample enables tuning the features of the wrinkled surface, obtaining for the first time jog angles lower than 90°.
