Superconductivity in the cobalt-doped V3Si A15 intermetallic compound

Abstract: The A15 structure of superconductors is a prototypical type-II superconductor that has generated considerable interest since the early history of superconducting materials. This paper discusses the superconducting properties of previously unreported V3-xCoxSi (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.30) alloys. It is found that the lattice parameter decreases with increasing cobalt-doped content and leads to an increased residual resistivity ratio (RRR) value of the V3-xCoxSi system. Meanwhile, the superconducting transition temperature (T… Show more

“…Based on our calculation, the D0 22 -type Al 3 V does not possess superconductivity with or without compression. However, the L1 2 cubic polymorph (space group Pm 3m, 221) of Al 3 V exhibits robust superconductivity, which is surprisingly in good agreement with one of the Matthias rules: high symmetry is good, cubic symmetry is the best [30,[40][41][42][43][44][45].…”
